Software AG announces expansion at its Leipzig based itCampus research facility

The company plans a 25% increase in the Leipzig workforce in 2010 - Software AG has also acquired the remaining 49% of itCampus shares

Darmstadt/Leipzig, Germany, 5/28/2010: Software AG today announced that it is planning an expansion of its itCampus subsidiary research and development facility in Leipzig. The company will hire an additional fifteen research engineers in 2010. Software AG has now acquired 100% of itCampus after initially buying a 51% stake in April 2009.

"We see itCampus as a hotbed of innovation and extensively use the technology developed there in our product portfolio", said Peter Kürpick, Chief Product Officer and member of the Executive Board at Software AG. “We want to further expand our operations there and utilize the excellent innovative skills of graduates from both the Universities of Leipzig and Halle."

itCampus was founded by Prof. Wolfgang Lassmann in 1999 after he identified the need to develop and keep leading high-tech talent in Germany. “It is with some pride that I can reflect on our successful efforts in developing leading edge software skills and leading edge technology in Leipzig-Halle”, he said. “Now being a full member of the Software AG Group ensures that itCampus can finance expansion and ensure that software developed here has access to markets around the globe”.

"Our investment in itCampus is an investment in skills and knowledge and a sign of the strength of Saxony as a location for software development. ItCampus has close links with leading universities and research institutions and will increase our research and development capacity", stated Karl-Heinz Streibich, CEO of Software AG.

itCampus, although a full member of the Software AG Group, will continue to operate independently. Operations will be led by Dr. Andreas Lassmann and Tobias Schmidt.
